Lice and stuff

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. It looks as if lice is making the rounds again at school, and there have been several affected classrooms. Possible exposure notices went home with the kids today. Please read over them for further information.

Please continue to work on California Reports. Everything is due Monday. Again, a presentation schedule for next week will be posted here tomorrow.

For those that have not submitted KOA permission slips and funds, please do so immediately. We are still shy a few students at this point.

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant

The week

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. The blog was down yesterday, so I will apologize for the lapse in consistency. It was beyond my control.

The kids should be focusing their energies toward their respective California Report. They have had the materials to work with this for well over three weeks, and it concerns me that many of the kids have yet to even begin their writing. I will be posting a presentation schedule for their oral reports on Friday. Presentations will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of next week. However, written reports and visual aides are due in the classroom on Monday.

Have a great day, Mr. B

Monday and the week

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in.

We are coming down to the wire in these last few weeks of school.

We have officially finished working in our Saxon math book, and will segue into review and accelerated work during these last few weeks. The kids will be taking their final math assessment on Friday.

We are a quarter of the way through our final literature piece, and will finish it by the end of next week. The class will have a quiz on chapters 1 - 4 on Wednesday.

California reports are due next week, so I won't be sending home regular homework. I would hope that the kids would focus their energies on compiling and completing their writing so as not to spend next weekend cramming to get everything done.

Orange Folders are light on returned work because of the last two weeks of testing. Please be sure to look out for several notices from the school regarding Bullying and Open House activities.

If you have yet to return your child's permission slip and $10 for the end of the year KOA day, please do so as soon as possible. I'll have extra forms at Open House for those who need them again.

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant

Wednesday & Thursday

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. We have officially completed our State testing, and the kids are thrilled. I won't be assigning homework for the remainder of this week, as the kids should be focusing on their California reports.

Have a great afternoon, Mr. B

Tuesday and testing

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in on this damp day. Math testing went off without a hitch this morning, and the kids walked away feeling confident with themselves and their work. Instead of waiting three days to finish the material on Friday, we'll be completing the math portion tomorrow morning. We will hopefully sidestep some of that testing anxiety by getting it out of the way.

The science projects are looking very good. The kids will begin to share their work tomorrow, and we will have a 4th grade science fair on Friday so that the classes can share their work with each other.

Each year I have the class work on a school beautification project. Last year we completed the monarch mural, with a surfer and the California bear flag happening in previous years. In keeping with our local California theme, the class has voted to paint a mural of the Seacliff Pier and the cement ship. We'll be completing the mural during the last two weeks of school, but will be auctioning off a dedication for the piece at Friday's Boots & Buckles dinner!

Have a great day, Mr. B

Monday and the week

Howdy all, and thanks for stopping in. We are in our final week of STAR testing, and will be wrapping up with two math assessments. One will be Tuesday morning, and the second will fall on Friday. Please make sure your child is present and accountable on these days.

Orange folders have progress reports in them today. Please look them over. Sorry about running low on ink for the last page, but the content is still legible. Please email me with questions.

Science reports are due tomorrow. The kids will be sharing them on Wednesday and Thursday.

Respectfully, Mr. B

Thursday and Friday

Howdy all. Thanks for checking in. We had a very pleasant day, and are anxiously looking forward to completing tomorrow's language assessment. Tomorrow also happens to be a school-wide pajama day. Yikes! Please make sure they don't wear smelly ones to school. Also, if the kids choose to wear slippers, they will need a change of shoes for recess and PE.

The kids were able to complete their math work in class, so they should be squared away with their homework for the evening. If not, they'll need to complete math 107.

Respectfully, Mr. B
