Thursday & Friday

Howdy all. Just a friendly reminder that there is no school on Monday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Our debate was very interesting today. The kids had some convincing arguments regarding the acquisition of California from Mexico. We'll continue the discussion tomorrow.

I am reworking the layout of the blog to include upcoming test dates and subjects. Hopefully it will help folks out.

The kids are responsible for the following tonight:

-Math 63 (1-20)
-Reading practice book pages 294 & 298
-Science workbook pages 58 - 59
-Reading Log
-Students who did not finish their "I have a dream" introduction will need to finish it tonight as well. Most we are able to do so in class.

Respectfully, Mr. B

Wednesday already?

Howdy all. The kids have a bit to work on tonight, so I'll get right to it:

-reread California pages 206-210. Tomorrow they will debate the US occupation of Mexican California.
(students are more than welcome to use this reading for today's log entry)
-complete Reflections page 53 (started in class)
-Math 62 (all)
-reading practice book pages 292-293

Please keep February 5th marked in memory. We are traveling to Mission San Juan Bautista that day. Permission and chaperone forms will be in next week's Green Folders.

Respectfully, Mr. B

Welcome Back!

Howdy all! I hope that each of you had a stress-free, enjoyable winter break. It was rough coming back today, I must confess. Still, we managed some great conversations around the issue of prejudice and civil rights in honor of Marting Luther King, Jr's. Birthday today. The kids have begun their "I Have a Dream" essays, which we will finish by Friday, and the type on laptops next week. I'm thinking they will make a great anthology.

Thanks again for the holiday gifts. I sent out thank you notes to everyone, but a few of the gifts did not come with notes or cards...so I know that thanks are still due to several people. If you did not receieve a card, please accept my sincere thanks.

The students are responsible for the following tonight:

-Reading Log
-Math 61 (1-20)
-Reading Practice book page 291
-Science workbook pages 56-57
-Green Folders

Respectfully, Mr. B
