Thursday and Friday

We had a rather mellow day (surprisingly the sugar wore off the further we got into the afternoon). The homework may sound like a lot, but remember that I went easy on the kids yesterday. We played a very lively game of Jeopardy during our last hour of school in preparation for tomorrow's California quiz.

Folks are responsible for the following tonight:

-Reading Log (due Friday)
-Cursive packet due tomorrow
-Reading workbook page 125
-reread California textbook pages 126-139 in review for tomorrow's quiz (use for reading log, please)
-California Reflections pages 33 -34

Respectfully, Mr. B

AWESUM-O says, "Have a groovy Halloween!!"

I know that I would have an icecubes chance in a fireplace in getting the kids to study tonight, so take it easy and enjoy this reprieve from homework.

Thanks to all the parents and friends who made it in to class today and for hosting a memorable party. You are all quite "AWESUM".

Boo!!!

Howdy all. Just some quick notes regarding the next few days. Yes, tomorrow is Halloween. Please leave the surplus candy at home, otherwise your children will look like the unfortunate pumpkin above. The school goes all out with the parade, and several room parents have done an amazing amount of work preparing for the classroom party. Kids are more than encouraged to wear their costumes to school. However, we do have PE tomorrow, so please make sure comfortable shoes are a part of their day.

Thursday will bring review opportunities for Friday's Social Studies exam.

Students are responsible for the following tonight:
-Reading Log (due Friday)
-Reading practice book pages 117-118 (most completed in class)
-read pages 118-123 in California text in review for Friday's quiz
-complete Reflections page 31 (the timeline on the top of page 31 is aligned with the information on page 30).
-No math HW for the remainder of the week while we work with decimal and fraction conversions.

Frightfully, Mr. B

Happy Halloween week!

Gee! Thanks everyone for sending the kids in with handsful of candy. We love the sugar rushes that never end!
We got a head start on Halloween by celebrating Dia de los Muertos today. The kids painted skulls, and we ate pan de muerte (dead bread). Yummy fun all around!

A few head's up for the week:
-Tuesday is picture retake day,
-Wednesday is the Halloween Parade. 8:15 on the upper playground. Be there, or be square.
-Friday is our social studies test that will cover early explorers to California up to missions. I am assigning review reading for each night of this school week to help the kids prepare themselves. They are more than welcome to use the reading time for their reading logs (due Friday).

Students are responsible for the following tonight:
-Reading Log
-Cursive packet 'J'
-math lesson 41 (10-27)
-California review page 134 (questions 1-5) Most students completed in class.
-California WB page 32 (Again, most folks completed in class.)
-reread California pages 110-115

Please bring back Green Folders and return book orders no later than Friday, November 9th.

Respectfully, Mr. B
