Thursday & Friday

Well, despite a day off, the kids came back with cabin fever and energy to burn. We are a tad behind in the writing of our ocean animal reports, but will hopefully get back on track tomorrow with a full morning of effort to look forward to. We did manage to wrap our Native Californians this morning. The kids now have a week to put the finishing touches on their work before the big quiz next Friday.

Invites went out today for our "Where the Wild Things Are" screening this Saturday morning. The first showing is at 11:15 @ the 41st Avenue Cinemas. All who would like to attend are welcome, and the cost for the early show is $5.50 per person.

The kids are responsible for their reading log and math 7.3 tonight.

I will be rescheduling yesterday's scraped conferences for next week as soon as possible. Please watch your email.

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant

No power / no school

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. As you know by now, school has been canceled today. PG&E could not give us a time frame to work with regarding when the station transformer that caught fire near the school yesterday afternoon would be repaired, so our hands are tied in the matter.

Hopefully the kids use some of their energies today to work on their ocean animal art project.

As for conferences that were scheduled for today...unfortunately we will need to reschedule them. I know that this will cause a great deal of conflict for many folks who have adjusted their schedules in an effort to meet today, so I will again apologize for inconvenience. The school does not have phone services at the moment either, or I would suggest a phone conference. I will be emailing each family scheduled for today with options as to how we can proceed.

Take care, Mr. Bryant

power on / power off

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. The power is back on here at school, so I am finally able to post to the blog.

Thanks to everyone for being accommodating during today's pitch-black, candle light held conferences.

The kids are responsible for the following tonight:

- reading log
- math 7.2 (pages 59 & 60)
- nature log (just an idea, but this crazy storm would make an interesting subject)
- keep working on your ocean animal art project

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant

Monday and the sick

Holy cow! Half of the class is ill, and we are a mess. Hopefully we'll make it through this week.

Conferences are here. Please be mindful of your scheduled time, as our windows to meet are short. If folks are late, I cannot extend your time as it will infringe on the next appointment.

The kids have a reduced schedule all week, so homework will be light. Each kid was given a larger project to work on over the next two weeks that will complete their ocean animal report. Information regarding this project is in today's blue folder.

We are planning an informal class trip this Saturday to see the "Where the Wild Things Are" movie. We don't have a theater or a time yet, but will let folks know on Wednesday when we know more.

The Book Fair is open this week from 8 - 4 during conference week. Be sure to stop by and check out the selection. We have a small class wish list as well (if you're feeling generous).

OK, the kids are responsible for the following tonight:

- blue folders
- reading log
- ocean animal project
- math 7.1 (pages 57 & 58)

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant
