Howdy all

Well,I'm sorry to inform you all that I will be out of the classroom next week. My Grandmother, 83, had open heart surgery last week. She was sent home after seven days of recovery at the hospital, and then had a stroke. She's back in the hospital now, and I'll be leaving for Reno Saturday morning / afternoon and staying as long as I can to help her and my Grandpa.

The classroom will be business as usual. I won't be sending home Orange Folders on Monday for the simple fact that I need to prepare lesson plans in my absence before I can correct the students' work. Ellen Abelard will be here in my place. I've spoken with Julie Roberson and Lisa Smith about the Halloween Party next Thursday. The parade and classroom party are a go.

The kids will have homework Monday through Wednesday of next week, and I will post that over the weekend before I leave. For tonight, the kids are responsible for the following:

-Reading Log
-study for Friday's spelling quiz
-extra credit opportunity. In one paragraph, explain what a magnet is made from. Be detailed.

Finally, student leadership speeches are due tomorrow, no exceptions.

Respectfully, Mr, Bryant

Happy Tuesday

Howdy all. We spent a great deal of time getting ourselves set up with laptops today. Each of the kids now have their own accounts and laptops to work with. We'll use them as often as possible. Today gave the kids the opportunity to begin typing their Spooky Stories for Halloween. We'll begin research on the computers later this week when the kids are assigned their mission reports. Good times abound!

Several of the kids have turned in parental consent forms that will permit them to run for Student Leadership. Those students who have turned in permission slips have until the end of the school day this Friday to submit their speeches for review.

Finally, the kids are responsible for the following tonight:

-Reading Log
-Reading Practice book pages 117-118 (generalizations)
-Math lesson 39, problems 16-27, pages 174-175

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant

Thanks and the week

Howdy all. I'd like to thank each of you for taking the time to attend your child's conference last week. Conference week can be a stressful one, and we all managed to pull through unscathed. I'd also like to offer a shout out to Renee Tallman for co-chairing the Book Fair this year, and to each of the families that volunteered their time and energy in making the fair such a success.

We are back to full-day schedules!

The kids are responsible for the following today:

-Reading Log
-Reading practice book pages 121 & 122 (spelling for the week, with the complete "Boss of the Plains" list on page 415
-Math lesson 38, pages 170-171 (all)
-Orange Folders signed and returned to class

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant
