Thanks & Friday

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. We had a groovy day at Mission San Juan Bautista. You're welcome to check out some pictures on our Shutterfly site. A huge shout out to our parents that volunteered their time, making this day go smoothly! your efforts are greatly appreciated.

A few notes about homework tonight:

1.) Reading logs are due tomorrow.

2.) A few kids are finishing their disenos.

3.) Students who have no done so, need to to submit the first draft of their "Blackout" stories to the MyAccess site that is linked to the blog. IDs and passwords are the same for Accelerated Reader, however they need to add the letters 'pv' to their ID number.

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant

Wednesday & the field trip

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. Here are notes on the day, and what to expect for Thursday's San Juan Bautista:

Unfortunately, we were unable to dig too deep into fractions today, so I am not comfortable sending home the work associated with it tonight. Therefore, all the kids are responsible for this evening is their reading log (which is due Friday).

I'll be making an all-call to the houses this afternoon sharing the following information regarding the San Juan Bautista trip tomorrow:

1.) We'll be leaving at 9am from the school, and returning very close to 2pm. Chaperones and drivers will need to be at school by 8:50, give or take a few minutes. All fourth grade classrooms are attending tomorrow's trip, so the parking lot might be tricky getting in and out of. Please be prepared.

2.) All students and parents attending tomorrow will need to bring a sack lunch. light jackets and cameras are optional, but money is not required.

3.) The tour of the mission will be self-guided, and in small groups. Each group will have a scavenger hunt to complete, which will ensure that the key parts and sites of the mission are visited by each group.

4.) Bag lunches can be left in cars when we arrive at the mission. We'll meet back together at noon in the Plaza to eat together.

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant

Tuesday & the week

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. Hopefully you all enjoyed a groovy three-day weekend. The warm weather has been welcome.

Just an FYI, we hit the Donner Party in social studies today, so the kids are anxious to discuss cannibalism...sorry.

Here are a few notes on the week:

1.) Wednesday will be business as usual.

2.) Thursday will bring us our rescheduled Mission San Juan Bautista trip. We'll be leaving school at 9am, so drivers & chaperones should arrive a few minutes prior to that in order to get situated. All students will need to bring a sack lunch that day. Cameras are permitted, but money is not necessary to bring. The temperature is forecasted to be in upper 60s and low 70s, so a light jacket might be appropriate for the morning.

3.) Thursday morning will bring us a visit from a Santa Cruz Symphony and docent. We'll have the opportunity to visit the symphony on Monday, March 1st (if scheduling permits).

4.) Friday we will be treated to a class ice cream party for our 100% participation in one of the school-wide spirit days.

Finally, the kids are responsible for the following tonight:

- reading log (due Friday)
- math 17.1 (fractions)
- nature log entry
- Reflections practice book page 50 (started in class)

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant
