Thursday's HW & stuff

Howdy all, students are responsible for the following work tonight:

- Reading Log
- Math pretest 14A

Friday brings us the second day of our mid-year writing prompt and our classroom spelling bee to see who we send to represent the class at the school-wide event in a week or two. We will be reviewing the math pretest and and completing the in-class portion of the exam. We will also have a class meeting to discuss our progress as a group, and determine areas that we need to improve on.

The kids have continued to work diligently in preparing their mssion reports. The majority of the class has finished their third paragraph and have two to go. While we will be taking a break from them on Friday, students who have not completed up to the third paragraph will be asked to catch up on the material over the weekend.

Respectfully, Mr. B

Tuesday's homework & upcoming notes of interest

Tonight's HW consists of the following:

- Reading Log
- Math lesson 72 (1 - 20)
- Reading Practice pages 216 & 217

Things to know:
We will be studying ocean biomes for the remainder of this week and early into the next. There will be an ocean biome quiz on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, with a cumulative quiz on both land and ocean biomes a week from Friday. We will have a "Sparks" quiz on Thursday after completing chapter 10.
Mission reports are hard! We have completed the introductory paragraph and are still working on our body paragraphs. While it was my sincere plan to have these writing projects done by Friday, they will carry into next week as well. We will be writing our mid-year expository samples on Thursday. Students will be summarizing the short story "The Stranger."

Respectfully, Mr. B

Monday's HW & Thanks

Tonight's HW is on the light side after our field trip. Students are responsible for:

- Reading Log
- Math lesson 71 (1-20)
- Red Folders

Thanks to each parent and chaperone that tagged along today. Mission San Juan Bautista was beautiful today. The kids had fun with their scavenger hunts, but I think that the real stars were all of the wild chickens and roosters roaming the city streets! Hopefully everyone walked away with a better understanding of the mission system and the conditions they were faced with.

The Red Folders are full of information. Please be sure to read over everything carefully. Their is a permission slip for our next field trip (FEB. 27 to the Mello Center for the SC Symphony). The field trip is free and we are taking a bus to the event. I have room for one additional parent chaperone (first come, first served).

Respectfully, Mr. B
