Thursday & Friday

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. Before I get into business, I was begged to remind everyone that tomorrow is TWIN DAY. Spirit days can be a hoot, so hopefully the kids have some fun with themselves.

OK, here is the skinny again on what is happening tomorrow:

1. Gold Rush exam that will consist of 25 short answer responses.
2. Spelling quiz for "Wildfires".
3. Kids will need to turn in their Golden Gulch packet, their By the Great Horn Spoon packet and their Reflections practice books for grading. Each are expected to be completed and here to turn in.

Tonight, the kids are responsible for the following:

- study, study, study for the Gold Rush exam
- math 23.1

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant

Wednesday and beyond

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. We had a very rough afternoon. Apparently our science experiment with minerals caused too much excitement, as a good number of kids could not get their act together to get us out of the classroom on time. My apologies to those who were inconvenienced by missed buses.

Homework is light tonight, as many kids will undoubtedly be studying for their Gold Rush exam on Friday. A friendly reminder that Golden Gulch packets, Great Horn Spoon packets and Reflections practice book pages 59 - 69 will all be collected on Friday, prior to the exam.

The class is responsible for the following tonight:

- reading log
- reading practice book pages 372 & 373
- math problem of the week
- continue with Gold Rush studies

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant

Tuesday

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. Short day, but much work. Hopefully this finds you dry and cozy as we wrap up our adventures in the gold fields tomorrow.

Check the calendar to the right for important due dates, as much material is being collected this week.

Tonight, the kids are responsible for the following:

- reading log
- reading practice book page 371 (kids took home big reading to help them complete assignment)
- math 22.4 (started in class) and math pretest for chapters 21 & 22
- students need to submit a minimum of two possible research subjects for their California reports tomorrow as well. The subject should at least be referenced in the Reflections text, but should be specific enough to cover in a two page report. (i.e. not the Gold Rush as a whole, but perhaps Sutter's Mill or Sam Brannan.)

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant

Monday & the week

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. We are off and running with our last week of Gold Rush studies. We'll be finishing the Great Horn Spoon on Wednesday and Golden Gulch on Thursday. The kids will be quizzed on their Gold Rush knowledge on Friday. The exam is 25 short answer responses.

Blue Folders are full of goodies. Folks should take a look at the California Research report outline. Kids will need to submit a minimum of two report choices by Wednesday for approval. We will have access to the computer lab on Thursday afternoon to begin our research, but most of the report effort will be happening at home.

Wednesday science check in is only for students who are struggling with their effort. If kids need help with their experiment, they will need to meet with me soon in an effort to get on track, as the due date is looming.

If at all possible, please order from one of the Scholastic book catalogs that followed the kids home today. I am attempting to accumulate points toward a new classroom computer. I will leave this order cycle open until the 1st of May, and it will be last order of the school year.

The kids are responsible for the following tonight:

- reading log
- reading practice book pages 376 & 377
- math page 502 (from big book)
- blue folders

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant
