Thursday and Friday

Howdy friends. The weather was beautiful today, so the kids were a bit cranky that we were inside a room with poor air circulation. I don't blame them, as a walk to the beach would have been ideal.

We are getting into a routine in the classroom. While some of the material is taxing, their enthusiasm for the work is encouraging. We did get the opportunity to meet and spend time with our reading buddies today. Thursdays will allow us to spend some time working with Mrs. Varni's kinder class. They are amazing kids (as are we)!

The class is responsible for following tonight:

-Reading Log
-Math lesson 4, problems 6-18
-Reading Practice book page 15
-Continue studying spelling words for tomorrow's quiz

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant

Speedy Wednesday

Howdy all, and thanks for sending back the Orange Folders with their papers in a timely manner. It is much appreciated. If you have yet to return them, the school is asking that both the parent volunteer forms and emergency cards be sent to school no later than tomorrow.

Good news and bad. We did receive our math texts this morning, but the accompanying practice books are floating somewhere in limbo. With that, I unfortunately will need to send home the larger textbook with the kids until they make their appearance. I apologize for the extra backpack weight and the eventual complaining that will undoubtedly occur your kids.

Everyone is responsible for the following tonight:

-Reading Log
-continue studying for Friday's spelling quiz
-Reading Practice book page 8 (-er and -est endings)
-Math lesson 3, pages 13 - 14, problems 9 - 25 (students may choose to complete extra practice problems on page 21, set b, but it is not required.)
-PE agreement forms, please only returned the signed portion at the bottom

Respectfully, Mr. B

Happy Tuesday

Howdy all. Things are moving along swimmingly here in room 13. We are deep into our literature studies of Island of the Blue Dolphins and Matilda. The kids are frustrated because we do not have our new math materials yet, so we are doing much reviewing until those books arrive (supposedly tomorrow). Social studies had us discussing latitude and longitude today, as well as the four geographic regions of California.

Students are responsible for the following tonight:

-Reading Log
-Reading practice book pages 6 & 7
-Reflections practice page 4
-continue studying spelling words for Friday's quiz

Just a quick disclaimer. The homework was started in class today, so many students were able to complete all or part of both their Reading and Reflections work.

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant

Welcome to the working week...

Howdy all,
The students received their first Orange Folders of the school year. Please be on the lookout for these each week. This week's folder has the back to school packet from Rio, as well as information regarding Homework Club, lunch menus, food allergies and volunteer opportunities on campus. Please send back the folders in a timely manner. They need to be returned by Friday of each school week.

The students are responsible for the following tonight:

-reading log (20 - 30 minutes each day, collected every two weeks). The log will be printed on blue paper and will be sent home in Orange Folders, as it was today.
-reading practice book pages 10 & 11
-practice spelling words for Friday's quiz (words can be found on pages 9 and 409 of the practice book)

We are still awaiting the arrival of the students' math texts. We have started the program in class, but won't have materials to send home regularly until they arrive.

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant
