Thursday & Friday

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. Sorry to post so late, but I was stuck in a meeting. Hope all is well, and here are notes for the evening:

1.) Tomorrow is heavy on the assessment plate. We'll be quizzing on chapters 12 - 15 of By the Great Horn Spoon!, spelling and Gold Rush vocabulary.

2.) We'll begin our exploration of Conflict Managers. The class brainstormed and wrote some scenarios they've experienced today. Tomorrow will allow us visit these issues and, hopefully, resolve them with actions and words that are positive and productive.

3.) Information for the California Reports will go home on Monday.

Tonight, the kids are responsible for the following:

- reading log (due tomorrow)
- math 22.3
- Gold Rush vocabulary sentences and definitions (due tomorrow)

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant

Welcome Back

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. Hopefully our break has found each of you rested and healthy. Here is what is in store for the next week:

1.) We are participating in an on-line expedition of the Clipperton Atoll. We will be able to interact with scientists from Cabrillo and Long Marine Lab as they conduct field research of this remote and biologically unique island in the East Pacific Ocean. You are welcome to check out their website at www.cabrillo.edu/~ncrane.

2.) We've been having a rough time with being a little too cut-throat during our Golden Gulch Gold Rush simulation, but we will persevere. We should wrap up our game / study in the next week, and the kids will have a Gold Rush exam on Friday, April 23.

3.) We will finish our reading of The Great Horn Spoon around the same time, and then transition into our World War II literature studies.

4.) The kids have spelling and vocabulary words this week. Spelling is from "Salmon Summer", and vocabulary is from the Gold Rush. Both will be quizzed upon this Friday, April 16th.

5.) We'll be taking a break from nature logs while kids work on their science projects. The second check-in is due on Wednesday, and consists of the hypothesis and procedure steps.

Tonight, the kids are responsible for the following:

- reading log (due Friday)
- math 21.4 (kids were given graph paper to complete the assignment)
- reading practice book pages 356 & 357 (spelling for the week)
- Gold Rush vocabulary

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant
