Monday and the week

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. We had quite a full day. The kids brought in some amazing ocean animal models, and they are eager to share them! I have to applaud the creativity and effort that clearly went into each of them. I am working on a class photo website that I will be able to post images of their work and activities on. I hope to have it up by the end of the week.

I also want to applaud the class for their very hard work with the Native Californians unit and exam. The kids did a very nice job working with a great deal of content.

The kids had the opportunity to learn a little about the lives of children in Afghanistan today from a guest speaker from the Omeid Organization. We are looking at ways to assist the school / orphanage they have established as a community service project this year via the raising of funds and much needed supplies.

As I mentioned during conferences, we have moved away from weekly spelling lists and will now be focusing on weekly vocabulary. The kids are working with science vocabulary this week, and will be tested on the content this Friday.

Also, a quick thanks to our room moms Kristin and Nancy for reaching out to families for Friday's Halloween festivities. The costume parade will be beginning at 8:15 on the upper grade playground for those of you interested in taking part in the spectacle.

The kids are responsible for the following tonight:

- blue folders
- reading log
- reading practice book pages 121 & 122
- math 8.1 (pages 67 & 68)
- science vocabulary

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant
