Tuesday's HW & notes galore

Howdy all and welcome to our first of two short weeks. I am keeping HW on the light side to accomodate the class in allowing them to finish their mission report rough drafts (wordy sentence, sorry). Students are, for the most part now, transferring information from the notes we gathered into paragraph form. A few questions have arisen in regard to the final paragraph. The final paragraph should discuss the closure of each student's respective mission due to secularization AND how that process affected Native Californians' lives. While we have thoroughly dicussed this process in class, students who need a refresher should visit pages 152 and 153 in their California textbooks. Completed ROUGH DRAFTS are due no later than Friday, February 16th. Next week we will prep final drafts, tables of contents, bibliographies and prepare disenos (maps) of our missions before binding them into report form! Woohoo!!

HW for tonight also includes Reading Log and Reading Practice Book pages 250 - 252. We completed a math exploration with graphing in class today, so I did not assign take home materials with it.

Wednesday is Valentine's Day and School Spirit Day. Students are encouraged to wear red and may have crazy hair to boot! I sent home a class list on Friday for students who were interested in preparing Valentines to exchange. We will not be having a party, but I will allow time toward the end of the school day to socialize with candy and cards,

Red folders also went home today. Inside you will find a school survey. I am asking for 100% compliance with this survey as it helps to focus school leadership and site council meetings so as to better serve the school community. If paper is not your thing, you may also take the survey on-line at the district website, www.PVUSD.net.

Have a great week, Mr. B
