Wednesday & Thursday

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. We had a productive and enjoyable day. The kids got their first look at our completed Gold Rush film, and are anxious to premiere for everyone tomorrow night at Open House.
Open House is from 6:30 - 8pm on Thursday. The film will start at approximately 7, and run for about 25 minutes. The kids will each be receiving their own copy of the film, but if you'd like duplicates, I'll be selling copies for $5. (It's a little fund raising effort for the classroom.)
It is my sincere hope that the kids have been managing their time wisely in regards to their California reports, as they are due early next week. I'll be going over the bibliography format in class on Thursday, as many students have expressed concerns over completing it correctly.
Other than their California Report efforts, students should complete the following tonight:
- reading log
- math 25.3

Respectfully, Mr. B

Tuesday & Wednesday

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. Well, we are officially done with State testing. Hopefully the kids are breathing easier now. The state will mail results to your home during the summer.

Tomorrow brings us a quick chapter quiz for Number the Stars. We'll be looking at chapters 5 - 8.

Aside from math 25.2 and the reading log, kids should be spending their time working with their California reports.

Respectfully, Mr. B

Monday & the week

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. We have an action-packed week ahead of us. Tomorrow we will be finishing the State testing by completing the second section of the math exam. The kids have been absolute troopers during our testing window!
We had a great time filming our gold rush movie on Friday, and we are slowly beginning the editing process. We will be premiering our efforts Thursday night at open house! The kids are anxious to see themselves on the big screen.
Blue Folders are full of goodies today, so please be on the lookout for them.

Finally, the kids are responsible for the following:

- blue folders
- math 25.1
- reading log
- continue with California reports

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant

Thanks & Friday

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. Well, tomorrow is the big day. We will be filming Villains in the Goldfield. We are looking forward to hamming it up for the camera, and are eager to share our efforts at Open House next Wednesday. It is important that the kids remember to bring their mining shirts! Also, if anyone has a stick horse, we would appreciate the opportunity to use it tomorrow! Everything will be returned Friday afternoon.

Tonight, the kids are responsible for the following:

- reading log (due tomorrow)
- math 24.4
- complete mineral and rock vocabulary for tomorrow's quiz
- bring clothes for filming tomorrow

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant

Wednesday and beyond

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. We are powering through our film rehearsals, and the kids are getting very excited about filming on Friday. If the kids would like to start bringing in costumes and props, they are more than welcome to do so. We are in need of bandanas and cowboy hats if folks have 'em laying around at home. They will be returned!

Tomorrow brings us our first efforts with the state math assessment. While I was not thrilled with the math curriculum we used this year, the kids are prepared to kick some equations to the curb!

Tonight, the kids should be continuing with the following:

- math 24.3 (it's an odd assignment, so if the stress levels go overboard, we will be going over the individual problems in class tomorrow. So, no worries.)
- reading log (due Friday)
- continue with California report
- continue with rocks and minerals vocabulary for Friday's quiz

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant

Monday & progress...

Howdy all, and thanks for checking in. We have a hectic week in front of us, but we are sure to rock out along the way. Please be mindful of the following:

- Progress reports followed the kids home today. Before you freak out, whether it be good or bad, please be aware that these are snapshots of where your child currently stands academically. We have a full month of school left, and the kids have the opportunity to maintain their efforts or improve upon them.

- There are two permission slips in the Blue Folders today. One for a documentary that I will be sharing with the class, and a second for our KOA field today in June. Please return them in a timely manner.

- We will be completing the balance of the language portion of the state testing tomorrow. Please make sure the kids come to school on time and having eaten a healthy breakfast (something that should happen each school day, regardless).

- There is a Number the Stars quiz on Wednesday. It will cover chapters 1-4. There is a rocks and minerals vocabulary quiz on Friday. The kids were given a study sheet last Monday to work with. It will also be due on Friday.

- The kids have a California Report check in tomorrow. It is not a huge effort, but should reference the following:
1. Subject of Report for example: Golden Gate Bridge
a. first topic (body paragraph) a. design
b. second topic (body paragraph) b. construction
c. third topic (body paragraph) c. usage

Honestly, this is all the kids need to show progress with. Hopefully it will focus their studying and writing.

Other than that, the kids are responsible for the following tonight:

- math 24.1
- reading log (due Friday)
- Blue Folder

Respectfully, Mr. Bryant
